KHDK was founded by two friends who decided to make guitar effects they would use, love and be proud of. In 2012, they found themselves in Prague drinking too many of the world's best beers and discussing sound. In the early hours of the morning, they decided to breathe fresh air (with sulphuric notes of the underworld) into the world of guitar effects. Their motto was "death to compromise" and they vowed not to rest until they've created a line of perfect pedals. The first step was assembling the right crew. Through a good friend and one of the best guitar techs ever, Jason Baskin, they found a young engineer in the dark corners of central Europe. Antonin Salva, an industry insider's wizard who possessed the technical prowess as well as a burning passion for sound. Getting him on board was easy – like the rest of them, he is a total guitar geek.
From conception to prototyping, testing and fine-tuning, they leaned on the tastes and visions of some of the greatest rock'n'roll masterminds out there. They refined and polished their vision, tossing it all away and starting from square 1 multiple times. In 2013, after parting ways with a manufacturer who couldn't give them the quality they demanded, they found a family-run factory in Paducah, Kentucky which would work with them every step of the way. Hand-built based on Antonin's unique designs, their pedals now undergo rigorous quality assurance which includes being individually tested by a guitarist at the end of the process. It's a lot of work, but their pedals deserve nothing less.
